Ivy Tech’s engagement with Diverse Suppliers is driven by several the College’s overall goals:
- Uplifting Local Communities. As Indiana’s Community College with 19 campuses and operations at over 40 locations through the state, it is important for Ivy Tech to partner with local communities. We believe that engaging with Diverse Suppliers connects us to our local communities and creates increased economic opportunity, including:
- Job creation
- Increased wages for members of our communities
- Increased tax revenue that benefits the communities
- Broadening Our Supplier Base. Engaging with Diverse Suppliers increases the number of sources for products and services available to the College. This leads to access to better products, increased product quantity and availability, and cost savings for the College.
- Helping Small Local Business. Ivy Tech recognizes that many Diverse Businesses are small businesses. By engaging with small business, Ivy Tech can access quality products and services while also helping these small businesses scale up and build capacity through opportunities and mentorship (especially in “second tier” or subcontract situations).
- State Reporting. As a State Funded Educational Institution (SEI), Ivy Tech reports quarterly to the Indiana Governor’s Commission on Supplier Diversity our spending with respect to goals provided by the state of Indiana for institutional spend with Indiana certified XBEs.
