Ivy Tech Indianapolis is seeking new applicants for its Ignite program to support independent first-year students enrolled at the Ivy Tech Indianapolis campus and the Lawrence satellite location. The program offers a unique support system, including a bridge program called "Spark Week,” mentoring, and financial assistance of up to $1,500 annually.
Billie Marcheva, the Ignite Program Coordinator, emphasized the inclusive and supportive environment that Ignite provides students.
"We create an inclusive and accepting environment where students are encouraged to discover their unique motivations and passions in college and beyond. We teach interdependence and collaboration to promote living in accordance with one's values," Marcheva said.
One shining example of the Ignite program's success is Kimberlyn Hernandez SanJuan, who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and hard work. Despite juggling two jobs and full-time studies while supporting her family, Kim has achieved a remarkable 4.0 GPA. Her mentor praises her selflessness and commitment to others, highlighting her embodiment of humanitarianism and compassionate leadership. Kim's story is a testament to the transformative power of the Ignite program, inspiring and encouraging others to follow in her footsteps.
"The program is more like a family, receiving me with open arms and willing to help by offering their resources, which was meaningful for me. Thank you for all your support, Ignite!” SanJuan said, sharing her gratitude for the Ignite program.
