Ivy Tech Community College is proud to team up with INvestEd for a facilitated FAFSA workshop. This collaborative effort will provide attendees with a better understanding of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process and introduce alternative college funding options. Plus, our experts will walk guests through the newly introduced FAFSA form to ensure accuracy and financial aid options are maximized.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16 from 2-4 p.m. at Ivy Tech Terre Haute’s Welcome Center, located at 8000 S. Education Dr. in Terre Haute. The event is open to the public and is free to attend. Registration is preferred, but not required. Individuals interested in attending should RSVP here.
Attendees should bring their Social Security number, 2022 Federal Tax Return documents, W-2 forms, and other income/benefit information to the event. Anyone who is required to provide information on the FAFSA form (you, your biological or adoptive parents, your parent’s spouse, your spouse) will need a StudentAid.gov account before accessing and completing their section of the online form. To create your StudentAid.gov account, visit studentaid.gov/fsa-id and be sure to enter your name and Social Security number exactly as they appear on your Social Security card.
"As students and their families pursue a path in higher education, completing the financial aid application is a key step in unlocking an array of opportunities”, says Julie Wonderlin, director of financial aid at Ivy Tech Community College. “The new application is designed to be easier than ever and ensures that students can effortlessly access financial support.”
Students who are already enrolled or are planning to attend college during the 2024-25 academic year are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA. In Indiana, all high school seniors are required by law to complete the FAFSA or submit an opt-out waiver by April 15, 2024, in order to graduate high school. Additionally, students who are eligible to receive the 21st Century Scholarship must complete the FAFSA to claim their award.
The FAFSA is the first step to being eligible for most forms of financial aid, including nearly $400,000 worth of Ivy Tech grants and scholarships. The state’s deadline to apply for financial aid is April 15. To learn more about the U.S. Department of Education’s new FAFSA form, visit this page.
