Ivy Tech Terre Haute names alum and supporter of the year
2024 Distinguished Alumni and Benefactor Awards celebrate the impact and generosity of Ivy Tech graduates, donors and volunteers
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College and the Ivy Tech Foundation recognized Ivy Tech alumni, donors and volunteers from across the state this weekend at the 2024 Distinguished Alumni and Benefactor Awards in Indianapolis. The awards celebrate the contributions of accomplished graduates and generous donors and volunteers to their communities and to Ivy Tech. Each of Ivy Tech’s 19 campuses nominated a graduate and a donor for the Distinguished Alumni and Benefactor Awards, which the Ivy Tech Foundation administers annually.
Ivy Tech Terre Haute honored Nick Givens with the Distinguished Alumni Award, which celebrates Ivy Tech graduates who have made a lasting impact on their communities and on Ivy Tech through their exceptional professional, philanthropic or volunteer achievements. Givens, vice president and chief information officer at Riddell National Bank, was recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award from Ivy Tech Terre Haute. A graduate of Ivy Tech in 2006 with an associate degree in computer information systems, Nick later earned his bachelor’s degree in information technology from Indiana State University in 2011. Nick now serves as the chair of the Ivy Tech Terre Haute Alumni Council. This award celebrates his significant contributions to both his community and Ivy Tech through his outstanding professional, philanthropic, and volunteer efforts. Ivy Tech Terre Haute also recognized the Putnam County Community Foundation with the Benefactor Award, which applauds the generosity of donors and volunteers – including individuals, corporations and foundations – whose support enables the Ivy Tech Foundation to bridge financial gaps that promote the academic success and career readiness of Ivy Tech students. The Putnam County Community Foundation has been a valued partner of Ivy Tech for nearly two decades, contributing more than $1 million to support the College and its students. Notably, the Foundation recently provided the lead gift for a new, state-of-the-art nursing simulation center at the Greencastle location. “Nick Givens’ remarkable achievements in both his profession and his community demonstrate the lasting impact our graduates can have, while the Putnam County Community Foundation’s unwavering support has been a cornerstone in our ability to advance student success. Together, they are building stronger futures for our students and the communities we serve,” said Lea Anne Crooks, Ph.D., chancellor, Ivy Tech Terre Haute.
