About the Role:
The Assistant Director of Logistics will work with Facilities and Academic equipment, manage supply chain inventory, collaborate with warehouse operations, fleet vehicles, forklift equipment, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) for the Indianapolis Campus and surrounding satellite locations. This position is responsible for inventory management and reporting, preparing requisitions for purchases, and people management of the Logistics/Events Team.

The Assistant Director of Logistics and Equipment reports to the Director of Projects and Materials Management of the Indianapolis campus Facilities team. This position generally works Monday – Friday, 6am – 3pm. This position is not eligible for an Alternative Work Location (AWL/Remote) agreement.

Key Responsibilities:

The following is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

  • Basic computer skills to assess, modify, and assign work orders as requested
  • Customer service, in the form of written and verbal communication
  • Ability to problem-solve and critical thinking skills
  • Valid Driver’s License in the State of Indiana
  • Ability to safely operate non-CDL box truck, route vans, tow trailers, and passenger vehicles
  • Frequent local travel to all buildings in the service area
  • Occasional travel to other Ivy Tech campus locations within the state
  • Forklift certification
  • Collaborative planning and project management skills
  • Use of basic hand tools
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs independently on a frequent basis
  • Supervisory experience
  • Other Facilities-related duties as assigned

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in an educational institution
  • Warehousing experience
  • White Belt in Lean Six Sigma
  • One (1) to two (2) years prior supervisory experience.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree with one (1) to three (3) years related work experience, OR an Associate’s degree, OR industry related certification along with three (3) to four (4) years related work experience.
