Introduction to Robotics

This introductory robotics course equips learners with the foundational skills needed to safely operate and program industrial robots in a manufacturing or automation environment. Students will learn to identify safety hazards, perform proper startup and shutdown procedures, and create and execute basic robot programs in both teach and playback modes. The course also covers key programming concepts such as tool center point definition, coordinate systems, subroutine structures, and editing programmed positions. Additional hands-on training includes managing inputs and outputs, recovering from common faults, and backing up and restoring robot programs.

  • Identify safety hazards and apply safe working practices with robotics equipment.
  • Demonstrate an ability to properly start up, operate, and shut down an industrial robot.
  • Create and execute robot programs in teach mode and playback mode.
  • Demonstrate ability to define tool center points.
  • Develop an understanding of various coordinate systems used in robotic programming.
  • Demonstrate ability to back up and restore robot programs.
  • Demonstrate an ability to recover robot operation from common faults.
  • Demonstrate an ability to monitor and operate robot inputs & outputs.
  • Demonstrate an ability to create programs with subroutine structures.
  • Demonstrate an ability to edit programmed positions.

There are several flexible options available to help cover the cost of your skills training class:

  • One-time payment – Pay the full class price upfront.

  • Payment plan – Split your payments into 3-, 6-, or 9-month installments ($30 to set up, no interest).

  • Employer sponsorship – Your employer may fund your training as part of a workforce development or upskilling initiative - ask them today!
