Business Foundations for Trades Professionals

Business Foundations for Trades Professionals is an eight-week, hands-on course taught by experienced trades operators who have built and led real contracting businesses. This course is designed for trades professionals who want a clear, practical understanding of how a contracting business should be structured, managed, and grown. Participants learn core business fundamentals by applying concepts to their own business when applicable, or by working through real-world trade examples such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, concrete, and remodeling.

This course emphasizes practical application. Each session combines instruction with guided workbook exercises so participants can apply what they are learning during class.

Participants will learn how to:

● Understand how a trades business should be structured for clarity and accountability

● Define roles and responsibilities within a contracting business

● Identify and track the key numbers that drive business performance

● Build effective weekly rhythms and meetings to support accountability

● Clarify business values, purpose, and ideal customers

● Create a simple, repeatable process for delivering work

● Set long-term, one-year, and 90-day goals that support sustainable growth
