INVESTING IN THE FUTURE| Invest In Ivy Tech

In October, Ivy Tech Community College announced the results of its five-year comprehensive campaign, Invest IN Ivy Tech. Locally, the College raised $12.2 million for student scholarships and related support, workforce development, campus enhancements, and sustainable support. Building off the success of Invest IN Ivy Tech campaign, we launched our new strategic plan.

Our world is changing so fast. Our communities are growing and attracting new industries that need uniquely skilled workers. Our students’ needs are shifting, requiring the way we deliver our high-quality curriculum to adapt. These changes call for flexibility, innovation, and efficiency. What got us to where we are won’t get us to where we need to be. At Ivy Tech, we are focused on the future. We are keenly aware of the essential role we play in our region, and how we must be nimble as a key partner in West Central Indiana. It’s why we have named our new strategic plan: Higher Education at the Speed of Life.

Our Strategic Plan in Motion

  • The Putnam County Community Foundation provided the lead gift to support adding a state-of-the-art nursing simulation center at Ivy Tech’s Greencastle site. Expected to open in the fall of 2024, the nursing simulation center, will enhance nursing education and expand the local program by 20 students yearly. Additionally, Ivy Tech introduced two new nursing pathways at the Greencastle site: an Associate of Science in Nursing and a technical certificate in Practical Nursing.

Last July, Good Samaritan made a $300,000 gift to Ivy Tech Community College Evansville and Terre Haute to raise awareness of healthcare programs and career opportunities. The investment will fund renovations, increase enrollment capacity, and bolster the healthcare workforce pipeline.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: GOAL 1, GOAL 2

  • Employer, presented by the Ivy Tech Alumni Council. This award recognizes local employers dedicated to education and fostering partnerships with Ivy Tech and its alumni. Russ Ferrell, President and CEO of Trans-Care Ambulance, accepted the award during Ivy Tech’s Chancellor’s Club Dinner.

    STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: GOAL 2

  • Ivy Tech Terre Haute/Greencastle was one of seven campuses that secured a Gable Grant from the Lowe’s Foundation to provide heating, ventilation, and air conditioning training, part of a larger initiative to train 50,000 individuals for trade careers nationwide. Ivy Tech was one of 11 technical and community colleges throughout the nation to be selected. Statewide, the College received $700,000 to help expand its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technology program during the next two years.

    STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: GOAL 2

  • In September 2023, ENTEK, a manufacturer specializing in lithium batteries, broke ground on a $1.5 billion separator plant located in Terre Haute’s Industrial Park. This plant represents ENTEK’s largest investment to date. Ivy Tech Community College is collaborating closely with ENTEK to cultivate a skilled workforce in advanced automation and robotics technology, industrial technology, electrical and mechanical maintenance, and more. The aim is to fulfill the demand for approximately 647 jobs by 2027.

    STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: GOAL 2

  • In April 2024, Ivy Tech celebrated its second annual Ivy Tech Day, a day dedicated to giving back. Locally, the college received more than 200 gifts totaling more than $32,104. These funds will directly benefit Ivy Tech students, supporting their educational journey.

    STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: GOAL 3

  • Ivy Tech Terre Haute/Greencastle partnered with the Next Step Foundation to provide educational pathways and comprehensive support for individuals in recovery, aiming to help them attain credentials or associate degrees. Backed by investments from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, United Way of the Wabash Valley, and Thompson Thrift, the Recovery Scholars program offers eligible students in recovery a scholarship to attend Ivy Tech Terre Haute, providing benefits such as a living stipend, personalized mentoring, technology support, and professional development opportunities. Ivy Tech welcomed 10 students in August of 2023 as the first cohort and invited 12 students to the second cohort, which will begin in August of 2024.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: GOAL 1, GOAL 3

  • Ivy Tech Terre Haute appointed Sonja Jordan as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging, alongside plans to establish a diversity center supported by the READI 1.0 grant. The center will serve as a hub for students, faculty, staff, and the wider community to engage in meaningful dialogue, access resources, and collaborate on initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and belonging throughout the campus.

    STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: GOAL 3

The real value of an Ivy Tech degree lies in the better life it makes possible.

Meet a few of our exceptional graduates and how Ivy Tech prepared them for a better every day after.
