Indiana is facing a talent crisis. With a declining labor participation rate and increasing demand for skilled workers, businesses across the state — especially small and mid-sized companies — are struggling to fill critical roles. Ivy Tech Community College, in partnership with TEConomy Partners, has released a first-of-its-kind report: Indiana’s Workforce Transformation: Understanding the Need for Upskilling and Reskilling in a Changing Economy.
This report estimates that over 82,000 Hoosiers must be upskilled or reskilled annually with non-degree credentials to meet workforce demands over the next decade across these key industries:
Non-degree credentials — such as certifications, apprenticeships, and short-term training programs — provide an efficient, industry-driven way to equip workers with in-demand skills in weeks or months rather than years. These credentials align with employer needs and drive higher wages, career mobility, and economic growth.
As Indiana’s workforce engine, Ivy Tech is uniquely positioned to meet these workforce challenges. We enroll over 25,000 learners annually in skills training and workforce-related programs. Our flexible training solutions help both individuals and businesses thrive.
The demand for skilled talent in Indiana is growing—and Ivy Tech is here to help. Whether you're a job seeker looking to advance your career or an employer needing a customized workforce solution, Ivy Tech has the programs, partnerships, and expertise to drive success.
