Early Childhood Education Professional Classroom Ready

This training offers foundational knowledge in health and safety in early care and education settings, including communication with families, setting up an environment, and skills application.

This is an opportunity for educators and support staff to build their skills. Upon completion of the 150 hours and passing the competency-based assessment, students will be awarded a badge. Any student wishing to continue their coursework at Ivy Tech toward a Classroom Support Professional Microcredential, Child Development Associate (CDA) Process Certification (academic short-term certification), Early Childhood Education Technical Certificate (TC), or Associates of Applied Science (AAS) may apply this completed program for 3 hours of credit for ECED 101.

Students will:

  1. Demonstrate how to support children in their use of everyday health and safety practices.
  2. Demonstrate using the environment and materials to positively engage with children to support their learning.
  3. Demonstrate maintaining consistent routines and predictable learning environments.
  4. Make in-the-moment decisions to best support the child's growth and development.
  5. Demonstrate developmentally appropriate active engagement strategies that best support all aspects of each child's development.
  6. Demonstrate regulatory knowledge to practical classroom situations to ensure children's health and safety.
  7. Use the objective observation protocol (specific and factual content, positive, and relevant to learning) when documenting learning.
  8. Apply bilateral communication techniques to support the health and safety of the children in their care.
  9. Apply bilateral communication techniques to support child growth and development.
  10. Illustrate when to communicate with cooperative teachers and administration regarding signs of a child's development.

Employee registration is coordinated by the Program Manager supporting your training. Depending on the course, employees may register in person, through an organization-provided roster, or via a self-registration link. Your Program Manager will guide you through the best option for your specific training.
