Learning Center at Ivy Tech Indianapolis

Due to the closure of the North Meridian Center, Library and Tutoring services will be located in the Illinois Fall Creek Center, in the 5th-floor commons. Normal hours of operation and contact information still apply.

WE offer course tutoring and research assistance to Ivy Tech students free of charge.

  • Math and Science Resource Center:  Offers assistance with all Ivy Tech math courses, as well as most science, technology, and engineering courses.
  • Writing Center:  Offers assistance with writing assignments in any Ivy Tech course at any stage of the writing process.
  • Library Research Assistance:  Offers assistance with research and technology needs for all subject areas and provides focused and collaborative study spaces.

Math & Science Tutoring and Resources

  • What do we offer?

    We offer tutoring for all math courses, as well as most science, technology, and engineering courses at Ivy Tech.  Students can drop into the lab in NMC 400 Suite any time during our open hours to see a tutor or may schedule an in-person or virtual appointment ahead of time.

    What courses can we assist with?

    All math courses at Ivy Tech. Math topics in non-math courses: e.g., unit conversions, dosage calculations, statistical analysis

    Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Earth Science, Biology, and Anatomy & Physiology.

    CINS, BOAT, Microsoft Office, circuit analysis, MATLAB, C, C++, Python, statics, dynamics, thermodynamics

    We're happy to look at coursework not on this list and do our best to assist you.

     

Writing Center Tutoring and Resources

  • What do we offer?

    45-minute appointments and drop-in sessions where students can be coached at all stages of the writing process to continue improving their writing and growing as writers.

    Location: Northwest corner of the NMC 400 Suite or Zoom

     

    What areas can we assist with?

    • All writing assignments in all Ivy Tech courses
    • ESOL language development
    • Scholarship or personal statement essays
    • Resumes or cover letters

School of IT Tutoring Program

  • What do we offer?

    Ivy Tech Indianapolis now has an Information Technology tutoring program to help students with coursework in the SOIT program. Help is available virtually or by drop-in during our specific IT Tutoring hours:

    Tuesday: 1:30pm – 5pm
    Thursday: 1:30pm – 5pm
    Friday: 9am – 11am
    Saturday: 10am - 4pm

    What courses can we assist with?

    IT Tutors are available to help students in many courses from CSCI, DMBS, INFM, SDEV, CSIA, ITSP, NETI and SVAD sections. While not every course may be supported, feel free to reach out with specific questions and we'll get you in touch with the tutor who will be available to help you.

    We recommend making an appointment with the instructions found under the "Schedule, Prepare and Commitment" heading below.

Library Research, Resources and Services

  • What do we offer?

    Located inDowntown Library (NMC 400 Suite), Lawrence Library (F157), or available via Zoom, we offer 30 minute appointments and drop-in support to locate credible sources (scholarly articles, current event articles, books, etc.) for assignments using the library’s resources.

    In what areas can we assist?

    • Using computer and internet applications
    • Navigating MyIvy, IvyLearn, and Zoom
    • Ordering print copies of textbooks
    • Printing, scanning, and copying
    • Locating Ivy Tech information

Schedule, prepare and our commitment

  • Self-scheduling in MyIvy:

    1. Click here to open the Campus Tutoring Services
    2. Click Schedule an Appointment or Search for Availability to open the appointment search tool.
    3. Choose a subject by selecting the course you’d like tutoring for and a reason for your upcoming visit. Click Search to view available appointment times, then select the session that works best.
    4. Select whether the appointment is in-person or virtual and if you’d like your instructor to receive a confirmation of your visit.
    5. Click Save to confirm your appointment.
    6. Watch your Ivy Tech email inbox for an immediate appointment confirmation message and additional instructions for accessing your tutoring session. You will also receive a reminder email the evening before your scheduled appointment.
